Online shopping in China
Everything is social these days—we play games with strangers online, we post vacation photos on social media platform under the sun so that our friends can comment, and we check forums and reviews before splurging on a particular smartphone model. Even activities that used to be solitary—jogging for instance—have been given a social layer; now apps let us compare our mileage with other runners.
The power of social media is even more pervasive in online shopping. For example: Online Shopping Taobao English agent. How many times have we bought something just because we saw it featured in a blog somewhere last week, or overheard friends discussing about it on Facebook? We may not be aware of it, but a big deal of our purchases (whether online or from physical retail stores) are influenced by the social media we frequent.
Now, social wouldn't be where it is if it wasn't for the instant gratification we get from our mobiles. Whether it is posting pictures of your dinner or a new outfit on WeChat moments or being social through mobile apps, social and mobile are more connected than ever!
Just ask the Chinese—social media plays a big part on how they spend their money and mobile has increasingly become the "how" when it comes to online purchases.
What's So Special About E-commerce in China?
It's a different crowd in China, far different from Western shoppers. This can easily be concluded from an observation made early on by Jack Ma, former English teacher now mogul of China's most popular online retailer Alibaba which he started in 1999. Last May saw the company preparing to release its IPO, which analysts estimated would raise approximately $20 billion. At that rate, it might even beat Facebook's own IPO from back in 2012.
And to think that Alibaba began as a simple B2B website, facilitating transactions between Chinese manufacturers and small businesses.
So what were those observations about Chinese shoppers? Two things:
First is that many Chinese don't use credit cards, which naturally poses a problem for e-commerce sites. Ma's simple workaround was to create Alipay—a service which allows customers to deposit money in a bank account, after which the money is kept in escrow and released to the seller only after the customer has received the goods. The escrow system has cultivated a sense of protection among vendors and buyers, which has encouraged them to do more business.
The second observation is that Chinese are part of a culture that encourages and places a high value on savings. How do you convince shoppers to let go of money then? Again, Ma's simple solution was to offer the basic services of his website free for both buyers and sellers. Once customers realized the value they were getting from Alibaba, transactions came flowing in. And so did profit. In a 2009 interview, Ma was quoted saying:
"A lot of people thought I was stupid and crazy when I said customers are No. 1, employees are No. 2, and shareholders are No. 3, but that's our philosophy," he says. "Shareholders, I respect them, but they're No. 3."
By identifying the wants, needs, and special circumstances of its customers—both the vendors and the public—Alibaba has made itself an indispensable and trustworthy service, the default go-to for everyone who wants to buy or sell anything.
Through diversifying its customer base to cater to other segments in society, Alibaba has spread into other highly successful ventures—Tmall (B2C), and Taobao (C2C)—which have become the biggest players in the Chinese e-commerce market. Although not quite a worldwide household name yet, when Alibaba does achieve that status, Amazon and eBay are going to face some pretty intense competition.

Four trends in robotics
Four large and diverse trends are having a sizeable effect on the robots industry, according to The Robot Report.
1. Broad recognition
There is broad recognition within the business world for the value of robotics and that growing awareness is spreading to the media and financial community. Efficiency, reliability, low spoilage, and higher overall productivity are the real products of advanced automation. This is not going unnoticed, due to such strategic acquisitions such as Amazon's 2012 acquisition of Kiva Systems. Since then, similar acquisitions have taken place; the four most recent of which are:
The Ninebot China (http://www.escooterchina.com/)
acquired its competitor Segway, to settle their ongoing legal battles and obtain Segway's IP.
The German robot manufacturer Kuka bought Swisslog last year, in order to add mobility to the Kuka product line. It also took over Reis Robotics, which had a factory in China as well as a new one in Shanghai.
China South Rail (CSR) acquired the UK-based SMD, a manufacturer of underwater robotics technologies and systems. China intends to obtain core deep-sea robotic technology and equipment, next to the mature industry platform and global sales network of SMD, supporting its entry into the global deep-sea market. This is in addition to the existing activities of CSR.
Teradyne bought the Danish Universal Robots, manufacturer of one-armed robots and the primary competitor to American Rethink Robotics. Up until now, the electronics manufacturer only used the UR robots.
2. Effect of China
Global industrial robot sales reached 225,000 units in 2014, which is 27 percent more than in 2013. About 56,000 of these were sold in China, which is a growth of 58% as compared to 2013. Chinese companies made 16,000 of the 56,000 robots for the domestic market. To increase the number of domestically-made robots, many local governments provided the necessary investment credits and other financial incentives to work in their region. The number of distributors has grown from fewer than 100 to nearly 500. By the end of 2014 over 500 companies were active in the sector, with 90% focusing on the production of components and integration. The number is expected to increase to 800 by the end of 2015, and the number of manufacturers is expected to increase by 10%.
Driven by increasing wages and political incentives, China has become the largest buyer of industrial robots, and these robots are used by thousands. By 2017, China will have more robots operating in production sites than any other country, which will boost the automation of its car and electronics industry. Still, China lags behind as far as its robot density rate is concerned: around 30 robots per 10,000 workers compared to 437 in South Korea, 323 in Japan, 282 in Germany, and 152 in the US.
3. Visual perception
Vision-enhanced robotic systems are becoming the primary reason for upgrading and is the core reason for the continual growth of the robotics industry. The capability to determine its location in 3D makes it possible for robots to, for instance, safely engage in order-picking, which is very important for companies such as Amazon. Visual robotic systems are quite different from the classical industrial robots used in car manufacture: an object has to be brought to a "blind" pre-programmed robot in a specific spot at a specific time for processing. Each step of the process is hand-programmed and highly detailed. Newer systems that use cameras and identification software are more flexible, and can move the product from one step to the next. They are less rigid and precise and, as a consequence, the movement system is less expensive.
Various AI learning systems have been improving visual perception, and quite a few new companies offer vision systems that can supplement existing systems. Alternatively, they offer mobile manipulators that can determine how best to pick and handle all sorts of objects from various materials. Reducing costs by replacing expensive transport systems by cheaper mobile bin-picking robots is successful because of the many possibilities for manufacturers or warehouse operators. Companies to watch for these mobile manipulators are Fetch Robotics, RightHand Robotics, Clearpath Robotics, Adept Technologies, and Kuka/Swisslog.
4. Human/robot collaboration
The original intention was to provide SMEs with robots to improve production, become more cost-effective and thereby more competitive as well, so as to halt their movement offshore. Rethink Robotics' Baxter and Universal Robots' one-armed robots were pioneers in this segment. At the same time a movement has started to make companies more aware and understanding of the advantages of cobots as well as the business opportunities that they can bring.
A large user of cobots is the car manufacturer BMW, which already uses 7,500 robots in its factories. The company has been testing UR robots alongside factory workers, who were given less exhausting tasks. The test results were so positive that BMW is considering doubling or even tripling the number of robots.
At the moment, cobots make up 5% of the overall robotics market, though this number is expected to grow strongly in the future. The leaders in this field will most likely be ABB with Robert, Rethink Robotics, who has made its systems faster and more precise, and is introducing the new Sawyer robot, as well as market leader Universal Robots. Many other up and coming companies are expected as well. The market is expected to increase ten-fold between 2015 and 2020. Insiders expect an even more rapid growth, with light-weight robots being a top seller within two years.
A number of these robots can be found in the Sirris' Diepenbeek production hall. Companies can be introduced to the possibilities and test their function for their own activities.

Swimming Pool Lighting
Swimming pool contractors know every element of pool development and
will know how to fix or substitute anything on your pool that needs to
be done. Safety is the area of utmost concern when deciding on swimming
pool lighting. Controllable LED Underwater Lights
play an important part in Swimming pool. However, considering the
vastness of opportunities provided by the clean lined architecture of
water bodies and the affects that can be achieved because of the
illumination in water; this still remains the area of utmost interest.
There are various factors which have to be taken into consideration as a pre requisite when we are designing for the lighting of a pool, and the most important one is the provision of RCCB for the entire area which incorporates the pool. This is something which usually remains ignored by the contractors and swimming pool becomes an industry at nascent stage in Indian scenario, nevertheless this is the most vital component of the entire swimming pool lighting as this is what ensures the safety of the bathers against the leakage of current in the event of system malfunction.
With large swimming pool areas, fluorescents light sources are a great way of achieving the appropriate light levels needed for the space. Whether linear or compact, fluorescents provide great volumes of light whilst helping you to be energy efficient. Color Changing LED Swimming Pool Lights provide a range of opportunities because of the voluminous space they offer. We have variety of options starting from the normal halogen lamps and ending at the latest technologies like fiber optic and LED's. Fiber optics and LED's offer us the opportunity to light up the pool in linear strip pattern as well as dotted pattern, the latest one of the two is LED as the consumption of electricity is less and the life of bulb is also longer.
In addition, creative lighting can enhance every experience. This should include scene setting which is now available through wired, wireless or remote lighting controls allowing the user total flexibility over their environment. The other important aspect that needs to be addressed by the contractors is the placement of the LED Paving Stone Lights. As at times the similar lights with slightly innovative perspective to their placement provide entirely different get up to the pool. For instance, providing the entire lighting of an infinity pool on the wall opposite to the vanishing edge wall- lightens up the vanishing edge of the water at the top, but hides the source of light from the people sitting on the deck, hence giving totally different character to the entire landscape, with the feel of an enigma. I have a daughter that's a freshman, thinking how are we going to afford that, and that all just came together.Since we've evolved our solution based on customer feedback,Silicone gifts there are many features that our customers love but most owners comment on how our hybrid architecture really sets us apart."So far they've collected 11 prom dresses. A local dry cleaner donated two dresses. If you're interested in making a donation contact Stuckmeyer or Tammy Roberts at Davis County High School. The attire will be available for students to browse and select on March 1. Everything will be free to the 'shoppers.'
